January Meeting

This month's topic:
HTML5 and CSS3 - The Future is Now(ish)

Presentation Description: (Level 200)
HTML5 is the latest forefront in web markup with a lot of promising features to look forward to.  Though HTML5 is a separate animal from CSS3, they are often used in conjunction and are complimentary web technologies.  Building on my previous CSS3 presentation (but hopefully not leaving non-attendees in the dust), this presentation focuses on what's coming up with HTML5 as well as some of the features that we can implement today, including tips and tools for making it cross-browser compatible and downgrade gracefully for older browser support.

We will also be holding elections for the 2012 board members.

When:
Tuesday, January 24th
6:00p-7:30p

Where:
The Library Center (on S. Campbell)
Story Hour

Speaker Bio:
Tim Franklin is a software engineer at Jack Henry & Associates who moonlights as a user experience/web design consultant and is a usability enthusiast.  He graduated from Missouri State in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in CIS, minoring in Web Application Development.  Throughout his web tenure thus far he has worked as a freelance web developer, a graphic designer and developer at multiple start-ups, and a software engineer for a couple of corporations.  He's happily married with two kids and in the cold winter months enjoys serene promenades around a frozen lake near his country cottage, riding bareback on his pet mule Samson (wearing matching holiday sweaters) while playing air guitar to Journey's greatest hits as Samson harmonizes with a kazoo, and is betting you stopped reading this bio already.  Tim currently holds an officer position in the Springfield .NET User Group; you may remember some of his previous presentations on Web Usability, Intermediate CSS, and What's New in CSS3.  He's also a bona fide Ambassador of Surprise and Delight.
